海因茨•馬克在50年代在杜塞爾多夫藝術學院讀書, 並隨後在科隆大學獲得了哲學的學位。馬克對藝術歷史很有貢獻: 他在1957年與Otto Piene一起創立了ZERO藝術運動。他曾參與Documenta II (1959) 和 Documenta III (1966)，並在第35屆威尼斯雙年展代表了德意志聯邦共和國。馬克已榮獲各大獎項，包括Marzotto獎、第4屆巴黎雙年展的首個Prix Arts Plastiques(1956)和聯邦十字勳章(2011) 。馬克的作品曾出現在近200個個人展和組展。他的作品被總共136個公共收藏家收藏。
