I was on the dance floor at Living Room, one of L.A.’s newest member clubs and nightlife hotspots, being bathed in the fragmented, dazzling light of a disco ball in the form of Nefertiti’s bust. As the night grew more navy with time, I finally looked up, and was struck by the beauty and powerful presence of African royalty above me.
