The significance of the Phosphene paintings lies, in part, in the inspiration that followed Parlá's near-death experience with Covid. This exhilarating and poignant exhibition draws on themes in the artist's practice including memory, energy, urban space, and mark-making. The accompanying text highlights the accomplishments that Parlá has achieved through these 11 new richly textured and layered canvases.
