Verso (Las meninas), Vik Muniz
Its recent installation in the room is a milestone in the Museum's artistic discourse, as visitors will be able to see for the first time the "hidden face" of Las Meninas in the exhibition and Velázquez's original masterpiece in its usual location, room 12 of the Villanueva building.
It is the only facsimile of the reverse of Las Meninas and is therefore identical in measurements (320.5 x 281.5 cm), materials and fabrics. In addition, it accurately reproduces the rivets, stains and grains of the wood.
This work has been created by Vik Muniz to be part of his Verso series.
