Djamel Tatah studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Étienne from 1981 to 1986. He moved to Marseille in 1989 and held his first solo exhibition in Paris the following year. Since then, Tatah has presented his works throughout France and the world over, including the Salamanca Art Center, Salamanca; Museum of Modern Art, Saint-Étienne; Museum of Fine Arts, Nantes; Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain (MAMAC), Nice; Villa Medici, Rome; Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Algiers; and the Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou. Public collections include the Assemblée Nationale, Paris; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; and the Barjeel Art Foundation, Sharjah.
