Overview

Michelangelo Pistoletto attended Armando Testa's advertising design school in Turin and had his first solo show at Galleria Galatea, Turin, in 1960. He has exhibited extensively with notable shows at Musée du Louvre, Paris (2013); Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome (1990); P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York (1988); and Nationalgalerie, Berlin (1978). His work is included in important public collections such as the Guggenheim Museum, New York; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid; Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) New York; Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin; and Tate, London. Awards include the Japanese Praemium Imperiale (2013); Wolf Foundation Prize in the Arts, Jerusalem (2007); and Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale (2003).
